Can you tell us a little about your work background?
I began my career in the oil and gas industry in 2001, after completing a four-year apprenticeship as a Boilermaker. Over the past 23 years, I've gained extensive experience in the Well Intervention space, holding a variety of roles across both operational and senior management positions. My work has spanned across different aspects of the industry, and I’ve developed a deep understanding of the technical and leadership challenges within the Well Intervention sector. Throughout my career, I’ve focused on driving operational excellence, ensuring safety, and delivering effective solutions to complex challenges in Well Intervention.
What past achievement are you most proud of, and why?
One of the achievements I'm most proud of was leading a transformation initiative during one of my assignments with my previous company, aimed at shifting the work culture to be more collaborative, results-oriented, and grounded in core ethical principles
When I first took the assignment, the organization had a siloed structure where departments worked in isolation, and there was a noticeable gap between strategic goals and day-to-day execution. People were focused on individual tasks, and while we had good people, the synergy needed to drive high-impact results wasn't there. I recognized that in order to scale our performance, we needed to build a culture of trust, collaboration, and shared accountability.
To drive this, I introduced cross-functional teams that worked together on all aspects of the business, ensuring that every department had a stake in the outcome. We implemented a clear system for setting measurable goals and KPIs, with transparency across all levels so everyone understood the impact of their work, encouraging open conversations around the values that would guide our collective actions.
What I’m most proud of is how this initiative created a unified culture of high performance. Not only did the teams begin to deliver results faster and more effectively, but the impact was also sustainable. We saw a large decrease in Non-Productive Time (NPT), improved employee satisfaction scores because people felt more connected to the broader vision.
Ultimately, I believe the success of this initiative wasn’t just about driving results—it was about ensuring that those results were achieved in a way that upheld our core values and ethics. The experience reinforced my belief that a strong, diverse, collaborative culture can be both high-performing and principled, and that alignment on values is key to long-term success.
What’s one lesson you’ve learned in your career that you’ll bring with you to this role?
Due to the multiple positions, I have had held over the years, I have found the importance of embracing diversity and inclusion, particularly in a global context. Working with colleagues and clients from diverse cultural backgrounds has shown me that different perspectives not only enhance creativity but also drive more effective solutions. In every role I've held, I've made it a priority to understand and respect the values, customs, and communication styles of others. This approach fosters collaboration, builds trust, and creates an environment where everyone feels valued and heard.
In a multicultural world, it’s critical to approach challenges with an open mind and a willingness to learn from people with diverse experiences. This lesson is something I’ll definitely bring with me to this role. I believe that before offering the right solution, I first need to understand where and how the request has been derived—whether it's through working with a team, engaging with customers, or navigating international markets.
What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?
Outside of work, I take great pleasure in supporting my family and watching them play sports. I also enjoy working on my property, whether it's building or improving different aspects of it.
Favourite place to travel?
I think It's hard to beat Australia, which I consider the best country in the world! That said, I also have a soft spot for Europe and Canada—they each offer their own unique charm and appeal.
What kind of impact do you hope to make here?
Ultimately, I want my impact here to be one of growth—not just in terms of business outcomes but also in the way we work together, ensuring that respect, inclusivity, and collaboration become core principles driving everything we do.
What’s one fun fact about you that might surprise people?
One fun fact that might surprise people is that while I was on assignment in Scotland, I built a very impressive igloo for my kids. It took me over a week to construct, only for it to melt away in a single day due to an unusually warm day that followed its completion!
