The LiMAR Flo-Activated Locator is used to correlate Coiled Tubing depth by tagging on tubing nipples or the tubing end itself.
Increased flow rate and back pressure causes a piston within the tool to travel which forces the locator arms out from the tool body. The extended arms can then tag nipples or the tubing end. Decreased pump rate allows the piston to retract and the locator arms to return to the original running diameter. The tool features an emergency shear out function which permits the arms to collapse without piston travel should any difficulties be experienced during pull out of hole.
